Terms of Service
What Longformly does, what you are responsible for, what we refuse to make, who owns the output, and how payment and refunds work.

What the service does
Longformly turns a script you provide (or a topic you give us) into a finished long-form video: narration, illustrated or archive scenes, gentle motion, background sound and an optional captions file. You first get a free, watermarked preview of about ten seconds. You pay only if you want the full video.
By using the site you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use it.
Your script and your responsibility
You are responsible for the script you submit and for the video you publish. You confirm that you wrote it or have the right to use it, and that it does not infringe anyone's rights. We do not check facts, and we cannot check every claim. A video made from your script is your publication, not ours.
You are also responsible for following the rules of the platform where you upload (for example YouTube's policies on monetisation, reused content and altered or synthetic content). We do not promise that any video will be accepted, monetised or recommended by any platform.
What we refuse to make
We refuse, and may stop a render or remove a project, for scripts that contain or promote:
- illegal activity or instructions for serious harm;
- hateful content aimed at people for who they are;
- defamation, or invented claims about real, named, living people;
- sexual content involving minors, or any sexualised content of real people;
- content that targets or identifies a private individual.
True-crime and history scripts are welcome when they stick to the public record. We do not generate pictures of real victims or of real private persons. A render stopped for these reasons is not refunded.
Content rules and removal requests
Do not use the service to make or request:
- deepfakes, or any video, image or voice that makes a real person look or sound like they said or did something they did not;
- a real person's likeness without that person's consent;
- impersonation of a person, a brand or an organisation;
- public figures or celebrities, in uploads or in prompts;
- sexual content of any kind;
- anything involving minors.
Content safety: we may use automated screening, manual review, or both, to refuse uploads, prompts and renders that break these rules, and to stop a render or remove a project. Not every upload or output is checked, and checks can miss things.
To ask for removal of something made with the service, use the removal request page or the contact form, or email support@longformly.com with "Removal request" in the subject. Include the link to the video or page and tell us what is wrong. We act on valid requests within 48 hours.
AI-generated imagery and disclosure
Many scenes are generated illustrations, not photographs. Some images come from public-domain archives (for example public-domain space photographs). Realistic generated scenes can need a disclosure on some platforms: YouTube asks creators to say when realistic content is altered or synthetic, and you should tick that box when it applies. Your download includes a credits.txt that says where each image comes from, so you can paste it into your video description.
Ownership and licence of what you receive
You keep the rights you already have in your script. For the video we make, you may use, publish and monetise the generated illustrations, the narration and the sound, including commercially, as long as you follow these terms. Public-domain archive images are used with their credit lines in credits.txt; where an image's own licence needs a credit, keep it in your description. We do not give you the right to claim that an agency or archive endorses your video, and we never use their logos.
Shared image library
To keep videos fast and affordable, we keep a library of generated scene images. A generated image that does not contain a proper name (a person, brand or place name) can be reused in videos made for other users, and an image created for your video may be one of them. Images made from prompts that name a person or brand are not added to the shared library. Your script itself is never shared with other users.
Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live, if higher) to use the service or buy anything on it. We do not knowingly let minors hold an account or make a purchase, and we may close an account or refuse a request when we believe it belongs to a minor.
Accounts
You can start without an account. A guest session keeps your videos in "My videos" on the device you used. Clearing your browser data can lose access to that list, and we may not be able to restore it.
Payment
Prices are shown in US dollars before you pay. Payment is handled by Stripe, and we never see or store your card number. A video pass covers one video of up to 60 minutes of finished length. Your first video may be offered at an introductory price.
Refunds, failed renders and credits
Failed renders are never charged. If a render fails for good, the minutes reserved for it return to your balance automatically. Outside that, you can ask for a refund in writing and we will answer promptly; see the refund policy for the details.
Availability
We run the service on a best-effort basis. It can be slow, busy or paused, for example when a free-preview limit is reached. We may change, pause or end any part of it.
Limitation of liability
The service is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for lost profits, lost views, demonetisation, takedowns or indirect damage, and our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid for the video concerned.
Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. If you keep using the site after a change, you accept it.
